Allowances in the new millennium
via abbey's space. Todays teen-agers who get an allowance typically get $50 a week for movies, music and munchies. given prices have gone up, is $50 a week really necessary? back then, i got $20 bucks a week but that was for lunch/bus/misc. maybe that was alot back then. then again, i was usually playing bball or walking around the city so i didn't the money.

blogger poll
i was just interested in the grouping of people who visit here. as for myself, i started a couple of weeks ago. i started weblog/blog surfing about a month ago when i read an article about memepool and metajohn (it's in my relatively short faq.

short tidbits: been on the web since 94 (college acct) irc/email/surfing-research/newsgroups, 96-now first website/homepage(in various forms), 97 join startup (still there, although not a startup [sort of]), 99 blogging

read some cool pages about weblogs/blogs

i had a poll here but problems forced me to take it down. oh well

Students Win Free-Call Fight
i started using dialpad.com about a week ago and it's a pretty good service. i told my sister (in college)/relatives about it and we have been using it ever since. you're already throwing so much to money into college, if you can save some money - why not. right on.

Protesters in Miami Call for Elian Return to Cuba
``The issue is not Cuba; it's not (Cuban President) Fidel Castro; it's not the government of the United States; it's a simple issue of a father and a son,'' one organizer, Rev. Lucius Walker, told about 200 people" exactly. as a father, pls return elian to his father. put yourself in his position, you would want your child returned to you. politics aside, this is really a simple decision

`Who Wants to Be a Billionaire?'
another up-coming product article.

Xenote's iTag looks interesting and has a lot of potential.

'By clicking the iTag, users will be able to "tag'' songs on the radio for later identification via the Web, record product UPC codes for shopping lists and e-commerce applications, and even exchange personal data with other iTag users. ... Future versions of the device will add the UPC scanning. Users could scan a wine label, for example, then bring up product details, magazine reviews, comparative prices and links to the maker's Web site.

possible pda/cell use, cool. i would not have to carry around another device

mac os 9 upgrade
after the upgrade and removing a lot of extensions, it's still a bit slow. it does not freeze as much and it is running a bit faster than before. having never used a mac before, i like it except for the inability to tab between apps.
